Irrigation

Irrigation as a purely mechanical measure is now a common practice and a key element in surgical procedures with the aim of providing better visibility and removing wound debris.
Surgical irrigation is usually performed using a fluid and a device (syringe or pulsed irrigation) and can be performed intraoperatively or before wound closure.
The main purpose of irrigation is to mechanically remove debris from the wound. If appropriate fluids are used, an antibacterial effect can also be achieved and surgical infections prevented.

PREVENTIA®

Antimicrobial solution

PREVENTIA® is the new antimicrobial solution for the prevention of surgical wound infections introduced by Hartmann to help healthcare professionals provide the best possible medical care to their patients.

This topical liquid combines polyhexanide (PHMB) and poloxamer to reduce the bacterial load at the surgical site much more quickly, provide excellent cleansing action, and prevent further biofilm formation.
